Inauguration of Agro Technical Training for a New Batch at College of Agriculture
There is improper management in maintaining efficient agricultural productivity, in the district of Kilinochchi. Surprisingly, 80% of the population in Kilinochchi are known as cultivators. These were the words spoken by the Government Agent of Kilinochchi, during the opening event of Agro Technical Training for a new batch at Ariviyalnager.
In addition, he stated that most farmers produce similar crops due to instructions given by management in Agriculture, thus leading to marketing problems. Improper water management also led to another lasting problem whereby land becomes uncultivable: increasing wastage of water as well increasing the amount of land that becomes unusable. Hence, the introduction of proper management in irrigation and agriculture is critical, to improve the conditions of land in this area. This will in turn, increase the productivity levels which Killnochchi can attain. Bringing in new in puts will also help in the future.
