Progress Report of the Concrete Manufacturing Enterprise built by Hindu Cultural Centre Oslo Norway

With financial contribution from Hindu Cultural Centre Oslo Norway , a concrete block manufacturing company was setup on the 9 th of December 2005 . This enterprise is functioning exceptionally well, although it faced many difficulties in the month of December. There were heavy rains, which fully disrupted the running of the business. In effect, the enterprise may have been setup in December, but it hadn’t started its operations until the month of January 2006.

This manufacturing enterprise contains two concrete block manufacturing machinery, and one concrete mixing machine. This small enterprise provides employment to five people, whereby one of the employees had been interviewed for a team-leader position. The other four develop and use their specialised skills in the production of these blocks. This production unit produces 42 bricks, each of size 16 x 14 x 7 inches, from one bag of cement. Each brick sells at a price of Rs 32

There is a remarkable performance in production rate, which was achieved in a short period, i.e. an increase in number of bricks produced, less wastage in production, and the enterprise are producing 7,000 bricks from 165 cement bags. The current market is high, i.e. there is a good demand for these bricks. We continue to hope that there is more scope and income in this small industry. Further enterprises like the above, will not only provide more employment, but will contribute to the re-building of our nation.
