TR TEC opens a Technical Institute

London TR TEC financially helped TECH to open a technical training institute, where its opening ceremony took place on 5 th Aug 2005 .

On this occasion, Tamil Eelam Educational leader, Mr. Eelankumaran, had lit the ceremonial lamp, with the Deputy Political Leader Mr. Thangan hosting the Tamil Eelam national flag. The ceremony held a two-minute silence in remembrance of those who died. Mr. Shankumar, Australian co-ordinator, had the honour of opening the plaque.

Other prestigious members who were involved in the opening ceremony, includes Mr .Sritharan TR TEC Director, Mr Thangan who opened the reception hall; Mr. Thayagunaratnasingam, Deputy Director of Planning, cut open the ribbons to the electronic labs; Miss Thamilini, PoliticalWoman`s Wing leader opened the software labs; Mr. Ranjan from Planning and Development opened the hardware labs; Mr Pologunraja, Kilonouchi Educational Director opened the Language Department; lastly Mr. Ponnithiyagaran opened the Gymnastic Hall. TECH Director, Mr. Sugunan, headed these events.

Mr. Thangan highlighted in his speech that it was essential to continue to open more institutes like the current, in order to secure the future development of the North East. These training centres will encourage and equip those who attend the necessary skills to build our nation. Mr Thangan personally congratulated the first batch of students who had enrolled.

His speech extended to thanking on behalf of Tamil Eelam National leader, to TR TEC London, for their immense contribution to the North East, and their extensive fund raising abilities. Through Mr Thangan, our leader, requested London TR TEC to build more institutions in other areas of Tamil Eelam, as there is a great need for them. He thanked Tamils Diasporas for helping in raising the money for these institutes, and appreciated their efforts.

Treasurer of TR TEC London, Mr Raguraj, presented the history of TR TEC in his speech. TR TEC was established in London , in 1992. Since then, as an organisation they have contributed in many ways to our homeland. Mr Raguraj, who spoke on behalf of London TR TEC, expressed his honour of helping our homeland, in the ways that he and this organisation have been able to achieve. TRTEC have promised that there are many other projects that are underway, which we will all later discover.

The event then continued with Mr. Eelankumaran, Miss Thamlini, and Mr Anton giving their speeches praising the institute and the perks that it brings to the North East. This followed with the awarding of diplomas to the students who completed their courses successfully in English Language or Computer techniques, in the year 2004-05. Mr. Pradab was responsible for the issuing of these diplomas, and in total 126 diplomas was awarded.

This followed with various cultural events organised by Computer Lecturer, Miss Nithiya, and ended with Director TECH Mr Sutharamoorthy giving the vote of thanks. It was broadcasted during the ceremony, that there would be a demonstration fair on the electronic software held and built in this institute, as well a forum on languages, with a team dedicated to give short tutorials on what the languages courses involve. It was to be held on both days of 6 th Aug to 7 th Aug, and was being organised by Tamil Eelam political leader Mr. Thamilchelvan (more details to be followed in later articles).
