Training in Rice Cultivation
International Development Agency (DANIDA) and International Labor Organization (ILO) donated 226,000 Rs to train individuals in how to cultivate rice. TECH in Mannar district organised the training scheme, and offered it to thirty farmers from the following villages: Chinnvalaian Kattu Vilathykkulum and Vellanthikkulam. These farmers were also provided with rice seeds which can be potentially used to cover one acre of paddy field land.
Training in the Upper Terrain Cultivation
ILO and Danida funded a 212,000 Rs project, where ten farmers were selected from Madhu in Mannar district to be given training in the upper terrain cultivation. Seeds for growth were provided as part of the scheme, this ranged from bean seeds to other useful tree plants.
Training for Marketing of Seafood
ILO and Danida funded a 195,000 Rs project, to train fishermen the skill of marketing their seafood. Six villages from the coastal areas in Mannar district were selected, where two fishermen were selected from each area. They were provided with bikes, containers that are designed to store fishes, and weighing machines.
