Himiltan Alexandra School, Australia, organises the funding for Odduchudan Children’s park

Himiltan Alexandra School from Victoria , Australia , in conjunction with TECH, opened a children’s park in Ottisutan on 9 th August 2005.

Ottisutan is one of the most extremely affected places by war. With this in mind, a children’s park for the students of Odduchudan Sinnathamy School was organised, to give the children of this school a pleasurable environment to concentrate on their studies.

Educational Director of Mulaitheevu, Mr. Vimalenthiran, headed this event, with the ceremonial lamp being lit by France TECH co-ordinator Mr. Baby, which then followed with Odduchudan Political Wing Leader, Mr Tamilarasan hosting the national flag.

The two-minute silence was observed, and the plaque was opened by Australian TECH Co-ordinator, Mr. Shankumar. This opening ceremony included events in which the children of the school could take part in, and joyfully play in their new park.

Australian TECH Co-ordinator, Mr Shankumar, in his speech expressed how the children of Himiltan Alexandra, were very keen to raise and collect money, to fund this children’s park. He spoke about how happy it made the children of Himilton Alexandra, to help the war affected children in this way. Others who participated in this ceremony were Oddichudan school principal Mr. Sinnanthamby, and TECH director Mr Suntharamoorthy.
