Solar Panels in schools

On 4 th June 2005 , in Konarvill, an important event took place in Konarvill Government Tamil School , to honour the parents of heroes. The highlight of this event was the distribution of solar panels to the schools and nurseries, which were suffering from no electricity supply. The following are the schools and nurseries that were issued solar panels:

1. Paranthan Umaiyarlpuram Nursery
2. Mutkombarn Housing Scheme Nursery
3. Vadakachi Periyakulam School
4. Visuvamadu Poonaineeravi School
5. Killali Government Housing Scheme Nursery
6. Poonakari Arivolly Nursery
7. Seetha Residence Nursery
8. Veravil School
9. Valaipaadu School

The performance of these students studies, are affected by the amount that they can study in after school hours. As a result, studying with dim oil lamps provides no encouragement for these children. Hence, the solar panels will increase their motivation to study, and will in turn improve all the above school’s ratings.

On this occasion, a representative from TECH Canada , leader of Killinochchi, district political wing leader, all participated in the distribution of the solar panels. The event also included a speech from the director of TECH Mr. M.Suntharamurthy, and ended with cultural performances.
