Fruit Plant Production

BACKGROUND
In the last ten years, more then 6 million palm trees and 10 million fruit trees have been destroyed. TECH is aiming to revitalize these plants, maintain the mother plants and to produce high quality fruit seeds and plant. It also imports high quality plants and seeds and introduces them to the farming community along with the locally produced fruit plants. This will enable the people to generate income from these trees in the future and also protect the environment and provide a continuous supply of high quality fruits to the mass population.

ACTIVITIES

The funds are obtained for the project and quality seeds and plants are identified or imported. Fruit trees such as Jack, mango, banana, pineapple, lemon, lime, papaya, Nelli and palm trees are planted. In the period 2000-2003, 400 000 palm trees have been produced and supplied. The banana tree plantation is also grown at the integrated model farm. On the environment day of June 5th, funds were raised by school students and other organizations and plants were produced and supplied.
