Supplying of Solar Panels

BACKGROUND
The education of the youth in most rural areas of North and East of Sri Lanka is effected by lack of electricity supply. Therefore, in order to improve the education of the rural students, solar panels are provided to schools, libraries, community centers where the students can gather at night and study.

ACTIVITIES
The locations of solar panels are selected from the villages that are part of the Rural (Community) Development projects as these are the mostly marginalized. The panels are obtained and supplied to these schools and community centers. The list below shows some of the locations. There are also arrangement being made to supply solar panels to the villages in the Trincomalee, Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

To enable students to study after dark, TECH with the aid of TECH-USA has provided solar panels to the villages that are under the Rural Developments project as listed below.
