Renewable Energy System

BACKGROUND
The integrated Model farm located in Vaddakatchchi not only houses the plants, trees and animals but also the offices, the computer training center, Dairy Processing Center, guest houses, lodges, meeting hall and storage rooms. Electricity supply is necessary for the proper and comfortable functioning of these premises. The need to be environmentally friendly and cost effective electricity supply resulted in the combined wind mill and solar panels with diesel powered generator backup being installed at the Integrated Model Farm. Excess electricity is also supplied to the surrounding with free of charge. The system also serves as an ideal power system for others to examine and follow through.

ACTIVITIES
The 6KW wind mill donated by Landmark Organization through TECH-Germany and 24 solar panels along with 24 batteries are installed at the integrated model farm and utilized by all at the farm. However, due to the expansion of the Dairy Processing unit and the computer center there is a lack of electricity supply to meet all the demands 24 hours a day.
