Brief description:
This project will give the drinking water for people affected by tsunami cased by the resent earthquake in Indonesia . As a result of the disaster 5,700 families were displaced to 22 villages in North East Provinces. In these villages almost drinking water resources are polluted by the tsunami. These wells are filled with unclean water. There fore diseases spread through this unclean water.


Background:
This Coastal area people lost his relative and their houses. These people suffer to the drinking water. Ambition of this project is give quality drinking water for these affected peoples.

Justification:
All 5,700 displaced families need to be provided with resettlement facilities with quality drinking .It is intended to help the community to get back to their original activities by this project.

Implementation:
The proposal project is to be implemented by TECH with the financial assistance of the Tamil Diasporas.

Activities:
Initially check the water quality for the affected wells in that disaster area.

  • Then after chlorinated with the chlorine.
  • After that check again the water quality.
  • Continues this process until we get the quality & clean water

Beneficiaries:
Direct beneficiaries: fishermen and consumers
Indirect beneficiaries: a variety of businessmen
Beneficiary participation: fishermen will be involved in fishing and their family members will be involved in preserving

Implementation Partner:
The implementation partner is the TECH. The Economic Consultancy House (TECH) is registered with the Government of Sri Lanka as a Non Governmental Organization in all districts of North East province for the promotion of socio-economic and technological development.

Responsibilities and roles:
The project will be implemented with the support of Health department and the Divisional Secretary with the active participation of the direct beneficiaries.

Project Management:
The project will be managed by the TECH with the guidance from the Tamil Diasporas and the District Secretariat.

Monitoring and Evaluation:
The Governing Council of the TECH in collaboration with the donors and the District Secretariat will do the Monitoring and Evaluation.

Reporting Requirements:
Weekly progress and financial reports will be prepared by the TECH and submitted to donors.
